JankaHardnessScale.com is a free reference tool published by Ready Utilities, built for homeowners, renovators, and woodworkers who want to compare wood species using the Janka hardness scale. No account, subscription, or login is needed to use the interactive Janka hardness tool.

This policy covers what data gets collected when someone visits the site, how it's used, and what options are available. Questions can be sent through the contact page.

Information Collected

There's no account to create and nothing to submit just to use the tool. No registration wall, no paywall, no membership system.

That said, two types of data do get collected as a normal part of running any website. Web hosting providers automatically log basic request data — things like IP addresses, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. That sits with the hosting provider and is used for server management and security.

The other type is contact form data. If someone sends a message through the contact page, the name and email address submitted are collected to respond to them. That information isn't shared with third parties or used for marketing.

Analytics and Search Console

This site uses Google Analytics to see how visitors use it at an aggregate level — which pages get the most traffic, how long people stick around, general geographic region, and what devices and browsers are most common. That information helps improve the content and usability of the site.

Google Analytics uses cookies (the _ga, _gid, and a property-specific _ga_[measurement ID] cookie) to tell visitor sessions apart. The data goes to Google and is handled under Google's Privacy Policy. Analytics cookies don't activate until a visitor gives consent through the Consently banner.

The Janka hardness tool is available as an embeddable widget that other websites can drop onto their own pages. If someone interacts with it on a third-party site, that site's privacy policy applies, not this one. Ready Utilities doesn't have any control over how those other sites handle data.

Anyone who finds the widget on another site and has questions about their data practices should check that site's privacy policy directly.

Children's Privacy

This site is built for adults — homeowners, contractors, woodworking hobbyists. It isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone in that age group. If Ready Utilities becomes aware that a child under 13 has submitted information through the contact form, that information will be deleted.

Your Choices and Contact

Questions about how this site handles data, or requests to delete previously submitted contact form data, can go through the contact page. Ready Utilities will respond as quickly as possible.

Cookie preferences can be updated anytime by reopening the Consently consent banner through the cookie settings option on the site. Browser settings also work independently for managing cookies.
